ENGINE Mitsubishi 4G69
Description
The 4G69 is the 2,378 cc (2.4 L) version produced in Shiga, Japan and Shenyang, China. Bore and stroke are 87 mm x 100 mm (3.43 in x 3.94 in). Power output is 120 kW (161 hp; 163 PS) at 5750 rpm (160 rpm for the Sportback Wagon) and 219 N·m (162 lb·ft) of torque at 3500 rpm. It had a cast iron engine block (later switched to aluminum) and an aluminum SOHC cylinder head. It was multipoint fuel injected, had 4 valves per cylinder with roller followers, and featured forged steel connecting rods, one-piece cast camshafts and a cast aluminum intake manifold. The 4G69 uses Mitsubishi’s MIVEC variable valve timing technology.
