This version of the 4G15 is a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) 8-valve carbureted engine. It is an inline four-cylinder engine with a compact combustion chamber. The engine has an advertised power of 77 PS (57 kW; 76 hp) (DIN) and 127 N m (94 lb ft) of torque.

Description

The SOHC 4G15 displaces 1.5 L (1,468 cc) and has a bore and stroke of 75.5 mm × 82 mm (2.97 in × 3.23 in). A version of the 4G15 featured gasoline multiport fuel injection. The 1993 Mirage model had about 94 horsepower (69 kilowatts). The DOHC 4G15 produces 109 hp (81 kW) and 137 Nm (101 lb-ft) of torque. Another DOHC version combines with GDI fuel injection to deliver 100 hp (74 kW) and 137 Nm (101 lb-ft) of torque. A DOHC MIVEC turbo variant of this engine, still in production today (4G15T), serves the Mitsubishi Colt range, delivering 165 hp (121 kW) on the latest Colt Version-R (with exhaust enhancements). Total output is 197 horsepower (147 kilowatts).
