M270 refers to the transverse arrangement of front-wheel drive vehicles, while M274 refers to the longitudinal arrangement of rear-wheel drive vehicles. Both engines are based on the same design, with dual overhead camshafts, 4 valves per cylinder, variable valve timing, direct injection, and meet EU6 emissions standards. Launched in September 2012, the 2.0-liter (1,991 cc) engine features an increased piston stroke of up to 92 mm (3.62 in), higher performance figures and a compression ratio of 9.8:1. Since 2014, the M274 engine is also used in the Infiniti Q50.

Description

The M270 engine uses advanced in-cylinder direct injection technology and a twin-turbocharger system, which can provide ample torque output at low speeds while maintaining excellent power performance at high speeds.
