Engine piston assembly for BMW E90 325i new car parts N52B25
The BMW N52 is a naturally aspirated inline six-cylinder petrol engine。
Description
The N52 engine block is made of magnesium and aluminum. Magnesium is lighter than aluminum but is at greater risk of corrosion from water and may creep under high temperature loads; this makes traditional magnesium alloys unsuitable for the high loads experienced by engine blocks. Therefore, BMW uses magnesium alloy for the crankcase housing and aluminum “inner block” to overcome the limitations of magnesium alloy. The cylinder liners are made from Alusil and a hollow camshaft is used to save weight.
