Description
The first-generation MG6 was originally unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2009 as a five-door GT/fastback and at the Shanghai World Expo in October 2010 as a four-door hatchback sedan. It is derived from the Roewe 550, so it has a distant relationship with the Rover 75, sharing the front subframe.
MG6 production started in China in 2010, with a brief partial loose build in Longbridge, UK, from 13 April 2011.
In 2008, the Roewe 550 was launched in Chile and renamed as MG 550. It was launched in Iran in 2010 and in Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates in 2011. A facelifted hatchback version of the Roewe 550 was unveiled at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show, called the MG 6.
